You simply cannot talk about Illinois without thinking about Chicago, the windy city, third largest city in the USA, the crossroads of our nation.

You can take a boat from the Atlantic Ocean, through the great lakes, by Chicago and down the Illinois river to the Mississippi river all the way to the gulf of Mexico, right through the heart of our country. Illinois is the center of water, rail, auto, truck and air traffic.

With 74 million passengers a year Chicago's O'Hare International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. Nearly every North American railway meets at Chicago, making it one of the largest and most active rail hubs in the world. Illinois has twelve Interstate highways passing through it, more than any other state.


Chicago is also the financial, business, and cultural capital of the Midwest and is host to over thirty-three million foreign and domestic visitors each year. Well know for there museums, theater, comedy troupes, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Opera. The city is also the home of The Oprah Winfrey Show and Jerry Springer.

Chicago has 15 sports teams and was named the best sports city in the United States by The Sporting News. The Chicago Bulls, the Michael Jordan era, when they won six NBA titles in the 1990s. The Chicago White Sox, who won the 2005 World Series, with the biggest baseball series comeback of all time. The Chicago Bears at Soldier Field won nine Championships. The Chicago Blackhawks with three Stanley Cup Championships.
