Kansas has a population of over 2,744,000 with it's largest city being Wichita.

Kansas

Points of interest include the Kansas History Center at Topeka, the Eisenhower boyhood home and the Eisenhower Memorial Museum and Presidential Library at Abilene, John Brown's cabin at Osawatomie, re-created Front Street in Dodge City, Fort Larned (an important military post on the Santa Fe Trail), Fort Leavenworth, and Fort Riley.

Overland Park Botanical Gardens

Today, wheat fields, oil-well derricks, herds of cattle and buffalo, and grain-storage elevators are chief features of the Kansas landscape.

Bison

A leading wheat-growing state, Kansas also raises corn, sorghum, oats, barley, soybeans, and potatoes. Kansas stands high in petroleum production and mines zinc, coal, salt, and lead. It is also the nation's leading producer of helium.

Waconda Lake

Fishing is great in Kansas, look at this nice catfish catch on the Missouri river.

Kansas River

"Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." -
Henry David Thoreau

Spring River

Kansas, which is one of the largest states in the Midwest, is a place that has been described variously as the heartland of the country, the breadbasket of the USA, and also one of the most open and friendly places in the country.

Duck- Mallard

Birds add a fascinating dimension to our surroundings with their color, liveliness, and music. Because they are wild creatures, they bring an element of nature into our lives.

Grosbeak-Tanger-Chickadee-Srubjay

In the west of the state, the land rises towards the foothills of the Rocky Mountains over the border in Colorado, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking and camping in the more rugged wilderness areas.

Cedar Bluff State Park

Kansas offers a number of state parks including the Fort Scott National Historic Site, the Santa Fe National Park, and part of the Pony Express National Historic Trail where you can follow in the footsteps of the pioneers who opened up the western states. Kansas is a place that is as surprising as it is large, and as beautiful as it is fascinating.
