Kentucky has a population of over 4,173,000 with it's largest city being Louisville.
You know that Kentucky is famous for the Derby, but here are some facts about Kentucky you may not know.
- Kentucky has more shoreline than Florida.
- Kentucky features the largest waterfall south of Niagara.
- Kentucky is home to the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi.
- Kentucky has the longest cave system in the world.
- Kentucky was home to Daniel Boone, one of the greatest pioneers; to Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest presidents; and to Muhammad Ali, the man they call simply, "The Greatest."

the traditions of bourbon making-America's native spirit, bluegrass
music, horses, and a rich arts heritage. The world's largest baseball
bat, 120 ft. tall & 68,000lbs, stands at the Louisville Slugger
Museum. The Bluegrass State is abundant with entertaining travel
options from these areas and many more.
Louisville is famous for the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, and the Bluegrass country around Lexington is the home of some of the world's finest race horses.

Other attractions are Mammoth Cave, Mammoth Cave is the longest recorded cave system in the world, with over 360 miles explored & mapped, the George S. Patton, Jr., Military Museum at Fort Knox, more than $6 billion worth of gold is held in the underground vaults of Fort Knox. This is the largest amount of gold stored anywhere in the world, and Old Fort Harrod State Park.

Kentucky has so many rivers, lakes and streams to chose from the choices are unlimited.

Kentucky is the perfect place for a day trip that is
full of fishing
fun. Cast a line in the calm waters of Lake Reba and you may catch a
largemouth bass for the evening’s dinner. You can also rent a boat on
Lake Reba or take a stroll on one of the walking trails.

The Kentucky State Parks operate 24 recreation parks
that offer a
variety of activities for visitors, whether you have a few hours, a day
or a week to spend with us. You can visit these parks and enjoy
camping, fishing, golf, boating, hiking, picnicking, tennis, mini-golf,
horseback riding, historic sites and much, much more.

In the winter of 1997, the Kentucky Department of Fish
and Wildlife
Resources began to re-stock elk in the state's eastern counties, which
had been extinct from the area for over 150 years. As of 2009, the herd
had reached the project goal of 10,000 animals, making it the largest
herd east of the Mississippi River.

The state also stocked wild turkeys in the
1950s. Once
extinct here, more wild turkeys thrive in Kentucky today than in any
other eastern state.
