The wheel of business in the USA and most of the world revolves around New York City. With the United Nations, New York Stock Exchange and the corporate headquarters for most of America's business, New York is the center for business, finance, culture and trade.

With all this business comes lots of numbers and computers love numbers. IBM and several other mainframe computer companies were born and raised in New York, growing hand in hand with business demand. On May 26, at 3:30 in the morning, a $133 million supercomputer nicknamed Roadrunner broke the long-sought-after petaflop barrier: 1 quadrillion calculations per second. How fast? 1,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per second.

Lots of businesses means lots of money and so New York became the financial capital of our country. As always where there's money, politicians spring up like weeds. Is it any wonder that four of our Presidents where born in New York, or that the richest man to ever walk the earth, John D. Rockefeller, was also born here. By todays standards Mr. Rockefeller would be worth $325,000,000,000 approximately 6.5 times more than Bill Gates. Besides, Bill makes a crappy hot dog, have you been to Coney Island?
With all the movies and press about New York City some would think the whole state is covered with skyscrapers, however, nothing could be further from the truth. There are only five cities in New York with a population over 100,000. Of the 18 million people in the State of New York, 8 Million are cramed into a 470 sq. mile city, the rest are spread out in hundreds of small managable towns.

At 6.1 million acres, New York has the largest State Park in America! How large? You could put Yellowstone National Park, Everglades National Park, Glacier National Park and the Grand Canyon National Park inside and have room to spare. In this park they have 3,000 lakes, 30,000 miles of rivers and streams, and over 2,000 miles of hiking trails. If you enjoy the outdoors- fishing, hunting, birdwatching, swimming, boating, skiing, photography and whatever else you folks were doing back in the bushes, then your going to love New York. If you run out of things to do in this park, they have 180 other state parks.
If you love the city, then head on down to Broadway. New York City has everything you could ask for in a city- lights, action, jazz, theater, art, comedians, clubs, food (Any Kind, Any Time) and the most important thing, "room service".
Fishing is great in New York, with so many rivers, lakes and streams to chose from the choices are unlimited. Do you remember your first fishing or boating trip? Ask anyone to tell the story of who first took them boating or fishing - chances are good the story is deeply personal and meaningful.
Over a dozen studies have shown that being with family and friends, relaxing and being outdoors and close to nature are the primary reasons people spend time on the water, and you can't do any better than fishing in New York.
New York also has some of the best bird and game hunting in the country. From ducks, geese and pheasant to deer, boar and bear hunting in New York is a tradition. Hundreds of thousands of hunters each year take to the wild seeking a trophy and filling their freezer with meat for the winter.
Birding is the fastest-growing outdoor activity in America. In a recent study by the U.S. Department of the Interior, appreciation of birds ranks second behind gardening as America's favorite pastime. Birds add a fascinating dimension to our surroundings with their color, liveliness, and music. Because they are wild creatures, they bring an element of nature into our lives.
In New York we have over 300 species of birds, perhaps this is why every year millions of Americans come to New York to watch and take pictures of the birds and wildlife in our wonderful state. Come and enjoy the great outdoors that New York has to offer.
