Amarillo 806-373-9464 Amarillo's Parkview House B&B Historic register, antiques, surrounded with peaceful landscaping and gardens, perfect for Honeymoon or Wedding

Texas is know for it's Energy(Oil), Aeronautics and the sixth-largest port in the world (Port of Houston). It has the second largest economy, population and total sq. miles in the USA. It also has the world's largest concentration of research and Healthcare institutions. Texas is so big it has two time zones.

Texas is a melting pot of cultures which they celebrate is many ways. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a 20 day event starting in late February with trail rides and they convene at Reliant Park for a barbecue cook-off. This includes several rodeos, carnivals and live music. The State fair is held in Dallas each year at Fair Park.

Austin, the home to "Austin City Limits" also has a film and music festival each year called "South by Southwest" along with "Austin City Limits Music Festival". It lives up to it's slogan "The Live Music Capital of the World".

Houston is the place for performing arts with Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Ballet and the Alley Theatre.

Rodeo

At every great rodeo, carnival, music festival, ball game of any sort, fishing trip, hunting trip, state, county, city get-together of any kind they all have one thing in common, the best damn BBQ in the World. Texans love to eat, drink and tell stories. The more they eat, the more they drink, that fish that got away gets bigger and bigger.

Sports

Need I mention "Football", few places support there teams like Texas. It doesn't matter if it's PeeWee football, Texas, Texas A&M or Dallas Cowboys, the whole town turns out and there's always room for one more. They support other sports as well but football is sacred. If there's a game where else would you be?

Johnson Space Center

"Houston we have a problem" yes NASA is alive and well in Texas. I heard the rocket on the right was supposed to be a secret mission to Mars, when it fell over at night during a windstorm. Quick thinking LBJ said "Prop it up, build a fence around it and we'll call it a museum, Hell we got enough spare parts we'll build another one!" You just got to dig a little deeper, "The truth is out there".

Texas receives 3.8 billion dollars of the NASA budget, more than any other state. Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center is home to Mission Control Center the NASA control center that coordinates and monitors all human space flight for the United States. The Mission Control Center directs all Space Shuttle missions and activities aboard the International Space Station. When your sitting in a capsule 240,000 miles from earth, a long ways from the nearest 7/11, those boys in Texas are mighty important.

Most important of all, the people of Texas. Aside from being very friendly and accommodating, there were so many famous people that are born in Texas that I had a hard time choosing which ones I could fit in the limited space of this website. As Bum Phillips says the people of Texas are "forged of a hotter fire". Check here for a full list of famous people born in Texas.

Did I mention the Beautiful Women of Texas? In the last twenty years of the Miss USA pageant, eight times they chose Miss Texas, that should give you a hint. The people of Texas are not only forged from a hotter fire, they polish up real well too.

Fishing is great in Texas, with so many rivers, lakes and streams to chose from the choices are unlimited. Do you remember your first fishing or boating trip? Ask anyone to tell the story of who first took them boating or fishing - chances are good the story is deeply personal and meaningful.

Over a dozen studies have shown that being with family and friends, relaxing and being outdoors and close to nature are the primary reasons people spend time on the water, and you can't do any better than fishing in Texas.

Texas also has some of the best bird and game hunting in the country. From ducks, geese and pheasant to deer, boar and bear hunting in Texas is a tradition. Hundreds of thousands of hunters each year take to the wild seeking a trophy and filling their freezer with meat for the winter.

Birding is the fastest-growing outdoor activity in America. In a recent study by the U.S. Department of the Interior, appreciation of birds ranks second behind gardening as America's favorite pastime. Birds add a fascinating dimension to our surroundings with their color, liveliness, and music. Because they are wild creatures, they bring an element of nature into our lives.

In Texas we have over 300 species of birds, perhaps this is why every year millions of Americans come to Texas to watch and take pictures of the birds and wildlife in our wonderful state. Come and enjoy the great outdoors that Texas has to offer.
