Twin Falls state park

Major points of interest include Harpers Ferry and New River Gorge National River, The Greenbrier and Berkeley Springs resorts, the scenic railroad at Cass, and the historic homes in the Eastern Panhandle.

New River

The Mountain State is called "wild and wonderful" because most of the state (80 percent) is covered in forests where you can camp, hike, climb and explore.

Our rivers, streams, and lakes invite you to boat, fish and swim. Raft or kayak some of the world's best whitewater. West Virginia’s mountains enjoy an annual snowfall of about 200 inches ensuring great cross-country and downhill skiing as well as snowshoeing and snowmobiling.

Snowmobiling

Whether you’re looking for one of the most famous luxury resorts in the world, a rustic lodge, a cozy Bed & Breakfast, or simply a friendly and familiar chain hotel, West Virginia meets your lodging needs.

West Virginia also has some of the best bird and game hunting in the country. From ducks, geese and pheasant to deer, boar and bear hunting in West Virginia is a tradition. Hundreds of thousands of hunters each year take to the wild seeking a trophy and filling their freezer with meat for the winter.

Birding is the fastest-growing outdoor activity in America. In a recent study by the U.S. Department of the Interior, appreciation of birds ranks second behind gardening as America's favorite pastime. Birds add a fascinating dimension to our surroundings with their color, liveliness, and music. Because they are wild creatures, they bring an element of nature into our lives.

In West Virginia we have over 300 species of birds, perhaps this is why every year millions of Americans come to West Virginia to watch and take pictures of the birds and wildlife in our wonderful state. Come and enjoy the great outdoors that West Virginia has to offer.
